Psychiatry

Freddy Stewart

PA-C

Stewart originally grew up in the greater Philadelphia area. He has worked in diverse areas of medicine over the past 20 years.  He obtained his Doctorate from American University Caribbean in 2015 at 54 years old. Additionally, he holds a Masters of Medical Sciences degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale in 2007, an associates degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Miami-Dade college and a Bachelor of Sciences degree from Penn State University.

I am often asked what drew me to Psychiatry and Substance Abuse? The short answer is I feel that it is the area where working as a team we are often helping whole families and social networks.

I enjoy working directly with patients and their families. It is gratifying to see the effects that helping one individual can have when you treat the whole individual with compassion, empathy and non-judgmental attitude.

Individuals often do not seek help for mental health and addiction challenges due to the stigma they feel they will encounter. When a person feels safe, seen and heard,  they open up and the healing process can begin.

There's a special gratification that comes with the realization that the person you are helping today touches many more lives than you can possibly know, realize or ever imagine.  This is what initially drew me to the field and continues to do so. I look forward to working in this field for a long time yet to come.

I look forward to working with you and providing my services here at Discovery Counseling Services, LLC!
